The range was a bit long for that gun on a yote but I would not feel bad about it. I doubt you were going to eat him, right? Assuming this was in Indiana, you did all other game a favor by dispatching a coyote as there are way too many of them, regardless of whether you recovered the pelt or not. Not saying I'd shoot them with no intention of recovery, just that it's not like you took a shot of opportunity at a deer similarly over range for your gun.
