That said, JEFFB nailed it. Being as I am not too up on newer model Martins, I put a call into the local Martin Guru. He said word for word what JEFFB said. He also said to get a TrophyTaker or WB and try it. He said, and I concur that taking it to a shop where they may have one to let you try out before buying would be your best option. He is a shop owner, and I of course was. We both did this practice (kept one of each to try out).
This is actually why I like these 2 particular rests, they will mask most mild nocktravel issues. Prong rests and quick fallers will magnify them. Prongs will make them actually jump or "launch" off the rest. Quick fallers will let the back of the arrow drop. (most often the way nock travel shows itself is the nock goes down. This causes a rebound off launcher or prong rests and of course follows thru until the fletch straighten them out with QF's.
Hope this helps you to understand the concept of what is most likely happening.
OH, and guys, Thanks a bunch for the kind words earlier. Makes a washed up old guy like me feel good to be helpful with all this worthless accumulation of archery tinkering and experimenting knowlege over 30years.
Hey JeffB and DryRidge.....
I think you guys may be onto something because even when I shot my Tm hunter Prong style rest for years, it was always scary close to the cables. I never had any contact issues but it was always a worry in my head! I am still going to see if I can tune it any better, because I hate to spend the money on a new rest and if that does'nt do the trick I have some Vantec 3" SS vanes coming in the mail to me now so I will try them as they are a shorter profile! I just hope they will steer a fixed broadhead??
Thanks, I will keep you guys updated!!
