Sportsmans Acres Pheasant Hunts is located 70 miles Southwest of Sioux Falls, South Dakota in the heart of Pheasant Hunting territory. With over 12,000 acres of prime South Dakota Pheasant Hunting habitat carefully managed to give you and your party a pheasant hunting experience of a lifetime. We are located directly on the James River which runs into the Missouri River about 25 miles from pheasant hunting property.

We work hard at developing our habitat and food plots, making the best possible nesting areas. Our success starts with managing the land and the wildlife. The lands consist of hundreds of acres of prime CRP, with Milo, Millet and Corn strips in food plots throughout. We also offer hunting in a variety of different covers, including corn strips, short and tall sorghum fields, long thick tree belts, cattail sloughs and dry run creek beds in the fields themselves. Low areas of over grown switch grasses, and foxtail grasses make for wonderful roosting areas.

We are careful to never over hunt any one of our areas. We make sure to rotate the use of our property making sure the pheasants stay on our land and assisting in keeping them from constantly flushing two hundred yards out.
Depending on the number of hunters in your group, and the length of your stay with us, you may not see all the land we have to offer! 12,000 + acres, and growing, means more fabulous pheasant hunting land available for you to hunt on. You will be on birds all day long.
Our guides rarely carry guns. They guide you on the land, help set up your hunt and work the dogs. Only if asked will they carry a shotgun.
Hunting with larger parties is done by selecting blockers to post the opposite end of the field where the birds are driven. Rotating walkers and blockers ensures everyone gets plenty of action. Our smaller groups will hit other areas like food plots or smaller fields. This allows a smaller group to be able to properly cover the ground and optimize their chances.
Our land is set up solely for our clients enjoyment. You will hunt different ground each day depending on the length of your stay. We know our areas well. They have been hand picked and maintained for the best nesting habitat possible meaning, tons of pheasants.

Our South Dakota hunting dogs are experts at pointing and retrieving. On our guided tours, we teach our guests the foundations of good hunting dog training. A properly trained dog will substantially increase your hit count, and make the hunt even more exciting.
With the abundance of WILD Roosters your dogs are sure to get more experience in three days with us then most dogs do in an entire year.
When it comes to natural terrain, South Dakota is the perfect environment for your pheasant hunting dogs. Our most popular package stays are for three days and four nights. In that time, your dogs will get a lot of practice pointing and retrieving. Here, your dog will gain applicable hunting skills for any environment.
Because not everyone in your party may have the same experience level, your guide will also be able to instruct members of your team in the best hunting techniques to ensure every hunter has a fun and successful hunting trip.
You will also have a great chance to harvest some Hungarian Partridge and Sharp Tailed Grouse while you are here as well. These birds are covered under your regular non resident or resident small game license. The limit on Partridge is 5 per day and the limit on Sharp Tailed Grouse and/or Prairie Chicken combination is 3 per day.
You will occasionally find prairie chickens mixed in with coveys of sharp-tailed Grouse.
