We don't want a handout from the General Fund. When the PGC does work for non game, their time and expenses should be billed to the General Fund. I'm sure other departments or agencies bill the PGC for worked performed by them.
With the number of hunter decreasing each year, I think it's time to stop buying SGL's, take that money and useit for creating better habitat on our land, starting with replacing all our land crew and increasing their numbers.
I feel it's unfair to just increase the general license for everyone, those of us that have our own land or belong to leases don't hunt SGL's. We pay our own taxes or payments to hunt on leases and clubs, plus put our time and money into bettering the habitat and food plots. Lets have the hunters that use the SGL pay a fee to hunt them, this money would go towards the upkeep of those SGL. This would stop a lot of hunters from hunting the SGL on the first day, then hunting their own private land after that. If these hunters also want to hunt the SGL, let them pay twice if that is what they wish to do.
Hunters applying for antlerless tags to be used on public land, should only be allowed to receive one tag, those applying for private land tags, should be allowed to purchase private land tags until theyrun out or make them unlimited if they want to. If a hunter is dumb enough to shoot every deer on his private land, he doesn't deserve to have deer there anyway.
We need to find a way to get the pressure off the SGL's, at least on our doe harvest, rather than losing hunters like we are.
When we buy a license we allready paid for the SGL to hunt.
We bought the SGL with our license purchase and now you want us to pay again?
With all the natural gas found in PA and the PGC has the mineral rights on SGL. There is no need for anincrease of license or to pay more to hunt SGL. Actually, Them gas rights belong to us hunters also. We paid for that land and mineral rights. Now why can't that money go towards funding other non game animals and just use our hunting license fee for our game animals and rebuild habitat by planting food plots thru out the state. They make seeds that germinate and grow in low light and all types of soil condition? All they would have to do is buy the seeds and drop it during rain so it gets covered on its own and let it go? But I think it is more to just the timber industry. Maybe like the insurance agencies who loose how much in accidents claims from wildlife every year?
