Ruger makesvery strongrevolvers that are very reliable. The GP100 in 357 Mag is nice. If I could only have one revolver, it would be a 44 Mag. The 44 Mag could be used for hunting and while hiking or bike riding in the country and 44 Special could be used for home defense. The 44 has quite a bit more recoil than the 357.
