Thanks for all the replies. The only way I' m even getting to go on this hunt is my mom is buying the tag and paying my way out there and back. This will be a family hunt and they have some really big guns that I can use if I don' t think my 270 is gonna do it for me. If I' d ever thought that I might get to go elk hunting, I would have ponied up the cash for a bigger caliber. Sinc all I get to hunt around here are small bodied whitetail, I figured 270 would be all the gun I' d ever need. I' ll have to think about this and make an educated decision before I head out west.
