This is my coming out party.
And I’m pissed.

I have been a Democrat all my life, and I have voted at every election since I was 18, but I have been thinking long and hard over the last few weeks about the direction our country is headed and what it all means for my family, and I am voting Republican for the first time EVER. The Democratic Party has shifted too far left for me to support it any longer. I have examined some of my strongest convictions and I have come to realize that as I have reluctantly plunged into my mid-thirties, certain things are just more important now than they were when I was 25.

Please bear with me as I feel the need for a history lesson, because we must understand the past in order to properly prepare for the future. In 1913 the 16th Amendment, the income tax, was enacted. The American politicians and bureaucrats promised that the tax would be levied only on the rich and that it would never exceed a very minute percentage. Also in 1913 the Federal Reserve Act was passed, which created a central bank, enabling government officials to control the amount of credit and currency in the economy. During the 1920s the Federal Reserve Board, using its power to expand the money supply, caused an inflationary binge and this in turn created a false sense of prosperity (Can you say “housing bubble” or “stock bubble”?). When the politicians finally ceased the monetary expansion near the end of the 20’s, the inevitable result was the 1929 stock market crash and depressed economic conditions. So……the Great Depression was not the failure of America 's free-enterprise system but rather it was the failure of political manipulation of money and credit.
When FDR was elected in 1932, he was faced with fixing the Great Depression, and he decided that the solution was to implement the socialist-fascist economic system under which Americans now suffer. It was during this time that the welfare-state, planned-economy way of life replaced the private-property, free-market way of life which had existed up to that point. And such schemes as the Social Security Act, the FDIC (by the way, NOT a government agency – but a CORPORATION), the Emergency Banking Relief Act, the Federal Securities Act, and the National Labor Relations Act came into existence — all with the aim of taking control of people's lives as well as absolving them from responsibility for their errors and recklessness. And what Americans had permitted to be done to them in 1913 came back to haunt them in a disastrous way, because FDR and his liberal congress used the income tax and the power to expand money and credit to effectively accomplish his plundering and looting, not only from the rich but from everyone in all walks of life. I believe today we are calling this the REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH.
Here are a few tidbits.
The definition of socialism:
1. A theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the
community as a whole.
2. (In Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.
The Congress makes all the decisions and sets policy, not the President.
America is not a Democracy, rather a Republic (“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands…..”). A Republic which follows the ideals of a Representative Democracy (the Electoral College is an example of voting via a Representative Democracy). We vote to elect representatives in a free and fair (although thanks to the devious, underhanded, fraudulent, and illegal actions of Acorn it is no longer free and fair) electoral system to make policies for us under a wide range of checks and balances to help ensure leadership accountability. Where will these checks and balances and the accountability be on November 5th?
Accountability. What a foreign word to the Dems, they can’t even admit their own faults in this financial crisis. The Bush Administration in 2001 recognized that there were serious problems with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and sent John Snow (Secy of the Treasury) to Congress to try to get laws passed to increase regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The Democrats wouldn’t hear of it. The Bush Administration tried to go to Congress again but, the Democrats wouldn’t listen. Maybe it’s because they all have Fannie/Freddie in their back pockets? Thanks to the likes of Chris Dodd, Chuck Schumer and Barney Frank, who consistently favored Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac forcing banks and other lending institutions to underwrite loans for people who couldn’t afford them, the taxpayers have to bail out the corporations that bought these bad loans. And the Democrats want the taxpayers to pay for the same people who shouldn’t have had the loans in the first place to keep the property that they couldn’t afford in the first place. Dem, Dem, Dem, Dem and yes, Dem. I have seen the light.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot healthcare. Universal healthcare? I hate the word "universal". To me it means not only handing over personal responsibility but the threat of a “one size fits all” solution. And I don't trust the government to do a good job with managing healthcare; they can’t seem to effectively manage anything. It’s that simple.
It’s quite possible that if Obama becomes President, America will slide towards becoming a socialist nation and we will be bearing witness to the re-birth of the “Socialist Experiment” from the days of FDR and the death of the “Great American Experiment” which began in the hearts and minds of men like Adams, Franklin and Jefferson. Instead of enjoying the fruits of their labor, the profits of those who work hard to get ahead will be taken and shared among those who are waiting for a handout, some deserving, some not. This idea is taken from the Communist Manifesto (written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels), which states their intent is to take from the haves and give to the have-nots, more specifically, “From each according to his abilities to each according to his needs.” Conversely, to paraphrase II Thessalonians 3:10, “if one is not willing to work, he doesn't deserve to eat.” I agree. But we’ll all be standing in line for bread before we know it.
Here is a very simple analogy I saw in an email today, which describes a man who passes a homeless man holding a sign that says “vote Obama, I need the money” while walking into a restaurant. He sees the waiter wearing an Obama tie and decides to conduct a little “redistribution” experiment. After he is done with his meal, he tells the waiter he is giving his tip to the homeless guy outside because he needs it more. So the homeless guy was happy to get $10 that he didn’t earn and the waiter was pissed that his hard-earned money was given away even though the actual recipient deserved it more.
And if you want to learn more about Obama’s tax plan, go to his site and see what your tax cut would be. You can click HERE and try for yourself. Obama's plan offers a $500 tax credit to people who work as a way of off-setting payroll taxes. This is the policy proposal that allows Obama to make accurate statements such as that he gives 95 percent of workers a tax cut. The credit is refundable, which means that if you don't owe any taxes you will still get a check from the government. HUH? Part of McCain’s plan I just learned about recently proposes to increase the dependent deduction, gradually doubling it from $3500 to $7000. For families making less than $50,000, it doubles in 2009. For everyone else, it gradually increases by $500/year, doubling around 2016. But the deductions are not refundable, so if your taxes are already at zero, you don’t get an additional benefit. There a lot of people out there that think Obama is going to bring them milk and honey but he can no longer disguise his far left policies by advocating them using soothing, non-threatening rhetoric. He’s promising things that he can’t possibly deliver and hopefully there’s going to be a backlash of epic proportions at the mid-term elections and we can get back to some sane economic policies. I disagree with McCain on several issues, like immigration and the right to choose and anything that swings too far right. But it’s the economic policies that I feel are in the forefront at this time in our country. Its time to right the wrongs, and spreading the wealth and disguising hand-outs as tax-cuts are not the way to do it.
Thank you for your time and attention. I learned a lot while preparing this, my own manifesto, and I felt the need to put it all forth. It has not been not my intention to offend any of you, and I am not out to change minds because it’s much too late for that. Just sharing information and venting my frustrations while I figure out a place to hide my soon-to-be-illegal guns.
