RE: Kudo's to One of our Own (Camera Arm)
Im planning on fabricating a couple arms in shop this winter. If I fail miserably, Ill most likely order one from him as well. I likehis arm more than any other out therethus far. I see that there is vertical adjustment in the base, which is good. Horizontal might be a problem in wickedly angles trees, but in 95% of trees it shouldnt be a problem. That 2x1 for the arms EXTREMELY strengthens its holding capabilities. Wont matter on the featherweight GL2, but on some of the newer HD setups, weight becomes an issue for some arms.
I dig the predator camo as well.
Couple questions, is the bolt sticking up for the fluid head welded in place or do you use a loose bolt up through the bottom?
Also, what type of shotgun mic/input hookup setup is that you are running? satisfied with its performance?
Now ya just need a thumb remote for the handle of your fluid head, and you will be golden for self filming....Seriously, for less than 200 bucks you can eliminate nearly all the hassle of filming yourself. On/off, record, zoom in/out, and focus all conveniently located at your thumbs reach.
We are running a gl2 nearly identical to yours, but our shotgun mic isnt nearly as nice. Thinking of upgrading sometime this year.
