RE: Hidden Deer
Hi Dan,
Yep - I haven' t hardly seen a deer in 2-3 weeks.
I always know when the fawns a dropping, beacuse the deer just disappear, this year seams no different. Right now, our deer won' t be anywhere near a field of clover, etc, at least not the does w/ fawns. Weeds/Forbs are everywhere, and most deer, not just does w/fawns, are eating them as the main source of food.
About the end of June, I start to see the mother does out in the fields without their fawns (their hidden in the brush still) feeding. About the end of July, I start to see Fawns feeding w/ mom. (these are just my rules of thumb). By the end of August, Does are weening them off milk, you' ll see them running from them, and sometimes chasing them.
