I always dip snuff on stand, not the wintergreen or any other crazy flavors just plain old snuff (copenhagen). WhenI hunt my treestand's I will clear a spot out on the ground before entering to spit in, of course mindful not to have any branches in the way!!!!
If I am hunting a ground blind, I spit on the ground!!!! I too have been doing this for....Well every since I started bowhuntingback in the early to mid 90's and have had deer come along and literally smell my little spot like it was a scrape or something, they never have seemed bothered by it. If I had seen one get spooked by it I probably wouldn't be doing it anymore.....
