Sweet, that oak ridge explains all the stands down there and rightly so.
Confession.....the stands you speak of were thought out thinking I'd hunt the field edges, early....and use them as observation stands. I still may use them for the latter....but I can't ge tin and out of there easily to hunt the field edges....and the thought of getting pinned down doesn't interest me too much.
Having bedding to the east is good, but will be tricky with a prevailing west wind.
I'm sorta looking at this as separating the properties (as they pertain to bedding areas) into two separate entities. When I'm on the left hand side of the road.....I'll hunt the deer bedding there....and vice versa. I'm not expecting the deer bedded in the cutover to come to the oak ridge.....or....I haven't until now. That's a great point....and it would open up some more stand sites on the SE of the property.
Do you ever get a NE or SE one?
Most of our weather systems come from the west....and the SW to be precise.
On last thing about that no hunting land. Picking a spot above your yellow line along the property border could work out well for a rut spot being on the downwind side of a bedding area for bucks scent checking it.
There's not a lot of room there, Ryan. That red line pretty much runs along the horse pasture fence. I'm afraid if I got into a stand on that line.....I would have an audience of horses
