If the rutting moon theory was correct, then deer in TX would peak the same time as MI[:-]
The Rut has to do with amount sunlight, end of story[8D] It happens the same time every year. Each year seems differnent, but they are the same.
Here is some data from the Texas Parks and Wildlife after a 3 year study on the rut throughout the state.
The Early and Late Ruts
Deer were breeding as early as September in some areas and as late as January in other areas within the state. So I'm sure somewhere in the state they were peaking the same time as MI.
Just reading that report on1 state further convinced me that whitetail reproduction probably has a much greater variance than we estimate and I'm pretty sure we will never fully wrap our brains around it.
