Revolvers are usually the best bet for novice handgun shooters. No bells and whistles to worry about. Go find a range that will let you rent handguns and try several. It is hard to beat a Taurus for value in either a revolver or semi-auto. BTW, modern pistols use magazines, not clips. Another thing, try not to get caught up in the " more power" hype. It is far more important to find a firearm that you can shoot well than it is to be able to stop a Mack truck with one shot. If you can' t hit it then it doesn' t matter what cartridge you use.
