RE: to BOSS or not?
The ported BOSS is freaking loud- you don't want one of those unless you are always going to be wearing good hearing protection while shooting it- including hunting.
I sighted in a friend's Win Mod70 with a ported boss. He gave me two boxes of corelokts (30-06), we looked at the BOSS chart, dialed the BOSS in, and shot it. It was giving sub-moa groups with factory ammo, but on the other hand, we didn't have a way of testing it without the brake to see if the brake made the difference- I think it did. The recoil was very light for a 30-06, but like I said, LOUD.
