The XD had a corrosion problem when they first came out, but that has apparently been fixed in the newer models. The M&P is a newer model for S&W, so I would go with the XD. Remember the Sigma? It's a good pistol now, but it had a rough start, let someone else deal with that.

Or, you could just get a Glock...
