I start out (HIIT)doing a 5 min warm-up on the treadmill at speed 6mph. I then do a minute on 9mph.....then rest1.5 minutes, waling on 3mph. I repeat this for 10 "cycles". I agree that what you described is a starting point....and Ididn't start where I am, either. It's taken me 5 weeks to get there....and my Low Intensity steady state runs (3.5mi'ers) are helping me progress with the HIIT, I know.

Gary (Germ) is a personal trainer in one of his other lives.I know he'd be glad to help anyone out who's interested in making a lifestyle change, too. I called him a few months back and told him I wanted to lose 10 lbs. in 2 weeks. He wouldn't even talk to me about it. I know, now, why.
