Yeah with the 2000 or the microtune, even when it is pulled in all the way it still sticks out further than the 1000. With my microtune, the screw that sets the sight bar in has come loose. Not enough for the thing to fall out but just enough for it to rattle when I shoot but it's no big deal. Personally though I don't think you can make a bad decision on the Viper sights.
