RE: is bowhuntin gettin to sophisticated?(sp)
Charlie P " I don't think that the gadgets have one thing to do with dedication or ethics however. Not one bit."
Do you or have you shot both compound and recurve ? If so, you probably have the smae thing that I have - the ability to pick up just about any compound and be proficient with it. Longbows and recurves - now thats something I have to practice all the time. Its like, well shooting B-ball, throwing a football etc - theres a coordination thats physical/mental - shooting a compound to me is not like that really. Sure the form still has to be there, but its more mechanical. Different topic there I guess.
Anyway, my point is that the easier something becomes, the less dedication you have to practice it. Am I not right ?
BTbowhunter - " I'm against devices that make night hunting possible and I'm against crossbows or the gadgets that hold a bow at full draw."
But explain WHY you feel that way.
Charlie P - Why the seperate board ? HMMM< why a different deerhunting from bowhunting forum ? Or a different blackpowder ? Its all about killing game, right ? But yet, traditional people talk about different things. Would you really reply to a topic on the brace height of a Chek-Mate crusader or how best to crown a wood shaft if you shot compounds only ?
" I believe you should be as accurate as possible with your equipment and if you can't shoot your traditional bow as accurate as the average compound guy with sights then quit calling yourself traditional and get a bow you can hit something with.
Amen - thats exactly right on
" But we shouldn't have night sights so you can bow hunt in pitch black, and other things like that."
Why not if it make you a better shot at daylight and dusk ??
