RE: How bad do you "need" to kill a turkey?
With deer, I feel alot of pressure to get at least one because my family relies on me to put meat in the freezer. We haven't bought red meat in 4 years (except for a nice steak for the grill) and I want to keep that going. So with deer, I need to get one to feel successful.
Turkeys are totally different. I hunt them for the pure enjoyment of the experience. I only eat the breast, so we're talking about one meal. With turkeys, as long as I have fun and see some birds strutting I'm happy. Of course, I'd rather arrow a huge Tom, but I don't feel like I "have to" in order to have a good season.
