maybe this Will help it think we are all right this is from myth busters if you fire a bullet up in the air straight up or close to it the bullet will lose its energy and start to fall back down since it losses all its energy it will tumble not spin and fall back down much slower and not be lethal but if it is shot Say like a 45 degree angel any bullet even a 22 it keeps it spins and falls much faster and is deadly no where you get the difference from a 22 and .223 and shotgun is

a 22 wont travel as far away even if fired on a 0 angle then a .223 so if you are farther away

now a shot shell pellet is round it will not spin at all so it will fall much sooner and properly non deadly as you said i was wrong about the shot shell because no bullet fired 90 degrees is lethal
