Yesterday was the start of deer season here in Wisconsin, and unfortunately, its Earn-A-Buck in my area, so I'm looking for any last minute advice on hunting does.
Here's the stats:
I hunt alone, in a pop-up ground blind on the edge of a well-pathed deertrail across a creek/ditch between a marsh and woods. Yesterday, I saw a 6 point buck walk south on the trail in the AM, then north in the PM, leading me to think he's not chasing a doe, rather checking his territory. Never saw me or smelled me. So close, I could poke him with my gun. He's taunting me, I swear.
Any last minute tips on getting a doe/antlerless buck to fill the tag and get my buck sticker? I've got a fawn bleat, and have tried with no results. If there's any other tips you guys have tried, much would be appreciated!
PS: Is there a better time of day to use a fawn bleat? Morning, afternoon, before sunrise?
