I didn't take it that way at all. I could have waited for a bigger buck, but I more than likely would have ended up passing on a bunch of bucks that were bigger than the one I shot, and in the end I would still have that guy running around in the gene pool. This has been a weird year for me, my normal hunting grounds havn't really shown me much as far as big bucks go. Last year I could have easily said that my honey hole property had atleast 3 to 4 P&Y bucks on it, but this year I didn't see one. Heck, I didn't even get a picture of a buck that I think would break the 110" mark. I have seen alot of pop shots taken about my buck on the board from other guys but it doesn't bug me at all, I would rather shoot a buck with bad genes off my property than shoot a bigger one which has the potential to turn into something special. I am happy with my decision and with my buck, the meat tastes good, and thats all that matters to me
Good luck to all of you guys that are still out hunting. I will be out Saturday with my fiance trying to get her a deer, I will be packing my camera so hopefully I can get some neat photos while she is trying to put a buck down.
