That' s a great looking call. I' ll have to take a couple pics of my sassafras and post it.
The spray on etching you would have to sray on the underside because it' s not as durable as regular etching. Michaels sales a etching bath that you can use for the top that is very durable and even water proof. Though it is a little expensive.
I agree that the call is very easy to make. All I did was sand it down to what I wanted, cutting the sharp corners, and then polished it to raise the grain. Then about three coats of polycrilic with buffing between each coat.
Man, now I have to order some zebra wood
P.S. What size glass did you use for the bottom piece?
