Default RE: Persimmon Trees

leehoper,

I have one growing ina pot in my backyard to transplant this winter. Its been there 1 1/2yrs. It has a single fruit on it and its about 5' tall. It was about 3' when i potted it. If you provide water, they will grow at least 1' per year. If youd like to beable to provide water without visiting it on a super regular basis, look into putting an oozetubearound them. This is a water bag that drips water at a slow rate. www.engineeredwatering.com/Ooze_Tube.htm

It did have more fruit on it, but I failed to water it for a while this summer and most dropped off. Id think w/in 5 yrs, youll have fruit. Maybe not a lot, but some.

If you plant some, be sure to put up a cage around them. Ive used the 2/3 welded wire fence before held up with t-posts to protect trees.
