Welcome first off, to gain knowledge I think you'll find this forum and site to be great. Don't be affraid to ask certain questions, etc there really is a good group here.

My first time out I was told to sit and not move till dad or my uncle picked me up. I did exactly that, never saw or heard jack in the way of deer. I was on pins and needles the whole time, hook, link and sinker from that day on. So I would say you did ok, especially considering you did so much on your first time in the woods and used he wind in your favor which is exactly right. Now all you need to do is scout for next year, this will allow you to get a handle on the deer and their routines...position yourself accordingly and with that wind at your nose and you'll do fine.
