Hello All, I have been following this forum since the end of 2002. I find it to be very informative and entertaining. I am a newcomer to deer hunting and am hooked on it for life. I went out on my own last season and the only thing I harvested was a big old snort as I got up to leave my ground stand. Startled the heck out of me, it was too dark for me to pursue in the direction of the snort. I had stalked for a while, keeping the wind to my face, rattled some and called some, I think I was doing something right to at least get a snort. I guess I was lucky too for my first time out.

My question is: Is this a typical 1st time out for most folks?
