Arthur's right about follow through. Don't drop the bow arm until the arrow is in the target. As a bowler, I suspect you understand how important follow through is. I've only ever used a wrist strap release(Scott 'Lil Goose), but many top shooters don't. I like it better for hunting as the release is always there and ready. I use the same release for all my shooting. This way I'm not switching back & forth. My feeling is learn your setup and become confident with it.
