RE: Anyone have experience with American Powder
I have only shot off about ten pounds of it so I am not sure I am a good judge of the powder. Yes it is very easy to clean up, there is no swabbing when you shoot it, and with some projectiles it gives you excellent accuracy. I shot 12 XTP's out of my Knight Wolverine one afternoon without ever swabbing the barrel. I could have shot more, but ran out of projectiles.
Some rifles like it, some rifles hate it. It is as course as the gravel is a fish tank in 2f form. Some funnels will not even pour the 2f from the container. Some funnel cut powder measures will not pour the stuff from the measure. It is moisture sensitive so keep moisture in the back of you mind at all times. Keep that lid on and only open it as you load, then cap that jug ASAP. Hunting in the rain with it one afternoon, it worked fine. Shooting on the range one day, during a drizzle day, and you could tell that you were not getting the full effect of the powder. It did go off, but just something was not right.
The APP 3f works great in my black powder six shot revolvers. It also shoots well in traditional rifles. It will not shoot well in flintlocks, even when duplexed.
