You are right. It is quite dated. Even his 4th edition that was published earlier this year is not as up to date or as complete as one would hope. But it is pretty good at laying out some of the basic stuff.
Not a book, but there are a couple of pretty fair videos. George Ryals video covers some of the target tuning techniques. Lawler Outdoors also has a pretty good video for the basics.
These are not as complete as they should be, but they will have to do until Len produces his video!
