Still can't figure out how to paste on this site, but if the game has to be deer, and the range has to extend as far as 250 yds (in Ontario's central rangeI've had few shots over 50 yds), I'd probably go with my BAR in .308 (or possibly my Rem. 760 carbine in 30-06). I don't believe in scopes, but due to failing eyesight in my old age, I use red dot sights, and I'd probably choose a cheap Bushnell Sportview with a nice big dot.
