RE: Another T.V. Show Mistake!!!
<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote<font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> The finished product that you saw on t.v. was a bull standing a mile away, a shooter letting an arrow go, and then a dead animal that doesn't mean that they were "quick clean kills". <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>
I saw the shots. And although they were quite farther then I would ever shoot, they were right on target. I haven't talked to the show's editor, but I'm assuming they did not show the entire kills because caribou have a tendency to not die as fast as other animals you might see. From my experience, caribou will rarely run after being shot, but hunch up and circle before collapsing. They dont' drop in their tracks like you often see whitetails do. I'm sure the show's editors would rather not show a caribou "running upside-down", or doing a death dance. Not only that, but they are much slower than other species, such as a whitetail. They have less tendency to "jump a string". And even if they do, they don't move fast enough to make it a huge difference.
