You might want to consider a Llewellin setter. There are subtle differences between a Llewellin setter and an english setter. A Llewellin setter are more traditional hunting dogs. They range closer and pace themselves.They have thebird drive and nose as an english setter; largely due to the fact that almost every english setter has some Llew blood.
There are a few kennels out there that are producing trialing Llews - and winning trials,but the majorityof them are still foot hunters.
