From what I see from your story, your civil rights have clearly been violated. Seek the advice of a lawyer who specializes in civil rights cases. While you did voluntarily give up your guns, they do have to give them back. You should not have to prove anything, the burden of proof belongs to the government. In some jurisdictions, civil rights violations by law enforcement is a criminal offense. Also be aware that the report generated may differ greatly from what you experienced. Don't make any kind of formal complaint of any kind until you talk to the lawyer.
