Default Wednesday Morning Hunt

Well fellow turkey hunters, I was blessed this morning with another turkey. We had thunderstorms this morning in central Georgia and when I woke up at 5:00 a.m. it was raining and thundering. I decided to take advantage of the rain and sleep in. I got up at 7:30 a.m. and got to an open field at 9:35. I set up my decoys and blind and did some soft calling in a light rain. At 10:10 across the field I saw a turkey. He was about 350 yards and when he saw my Primos B-Mobile and two hens he made his way across the field to my set-up. All the time he would strut and do a little feeding. At times he ran then strutted and when he got to 50 yards he stayed in a permanent strut. I was able to shoot him at 29 yards and only called to him once. He weighed 20 pounds and had a 13 inch beard. His spurs were 1 3/8" and 1 1/2".NWTF score is 20 + 13.75 + 15 + 26 = 74.75. I am going to have a full mount done on him to remind me of this particular hunt.

RD - I tried to post the pictures you sent but it told me that the pictures were too big. If you would post for me I would appreciate it. Also, I will send pictures of the bird I shot today.

Moral of the story, you don't have to be up at sunrise to score on a big turkey. Good luck to the rest and safe hunting.
