Worst luck of my LIFE!!! Everyday I've hunted I have had a bird gobbling in the tree and EVERY SINGLE LAST ONE OF THEM hit the ground and gobbles/laughs at me all the way in the opposite direction. The hunting has been great but the killing has sucked! Hope everyone else is getting on them or about ready to. These public land turkeys every weekend seem to find a way to evade my H&R single shot 12 GA 3 1/2 that weighs about 4 lbs with a 22 in barrel a.k.a. "The Mule" a.k.a. "Ole Bessy"

At least other hunters are not messing you up. That is the worst problem on Public Land.
Do you stay put and wait for him to return later? RPD calls that the magic time, 9:30-11:00. The gobbler is done with those hens and comes back looling for you.
And the weather down here is not getting better, 3rd weekend in a row with rain forecast.

Glad to see team members scoring. I'll get to hunt starting on Friday, April 8 at San Angelo SP in central Texas. I scouted Hagerman NWR , where I get to hunt April 15-17 this morning. Had a jake within 30 yards and heard some other gobbling so they are where I thought they would be. Now I'm getting stoked.

Scored this weekend in Kansas. Killed a 19 pound eastern that had a 9 3/4" beard, and 3/4" spurs. MO youth season starts next weekend.
