Had a great NWTF banquet last night. In addition to my son getting the special 20 gauge presented to him, he also won a pellet gun. And then to top that off, he picked a raffle ticket that won me a nice Stephens 12 gauge. So now I finally have a nice upgrade to what I use to be using. Took him out shooting today and even though it knocked him on his butt a few times, he was hitting the target nearly right on. Plus, we seen 4 hens when we got there so everything is shaping up for this season.

I'm a pastor... been tied up this week with Holy Week and all... but plan on taking Monday off and trying again. No luck so far... we'll see what happens on Monday!

Taking my boy out tomorrow for youth season. This dad has high hopes!! And then next weekend I get to get out there. So it will be good scouting trip for me. Hoping the birds are in there by now.

It was a success for the boy. Waited til the sun was well up and headed out. Seen some birds on the neighbor property. So hurried up to get set up and did some calling. Pulled 2 toms from the group and he ended up getting this guy. From seeing them to the shot, it was only about 25 minutes. Talk about lucky for his 1st time out.

Just started my first hunt. It's at Crab Orchard NWA southern Illinois. Spent yesterday scouting. Today was dead hunt. Just a couple gobbles.
