Ok ya'll here he is. 20lbs, 9-1/2" beard, 3/4" LS, 1" RS

This has to be the farthest turkey I've ever called!! Heard him gobble at 9am. That was only the second bird I've heard today. When I walked to property corner he was still just in earshot. I called on a old lynch box call, that thing screams, and he answers! It was so far I thought it was a coincidence. This happened one more time about 10min later then he never said anything else. I figured as long as I had to to walk around, hens had got to him. I decided to wait it out, and see if anything else would gobble. Time passed and I started thinking about moving to another property and caught a glimpse of a white head running down a dirt road my way!! It had been an hour since his last gobble, and he turned in the woods about 30yds in front of me. All I could hear was drumming, but a pine limb was blocking my view! He strutted right in front of me for 5min and I couldnt freakin see him....it was terrible. Haha! He finally decided no hen was there and I picked him up as he started moving off. BOOM!! Still amazing to me how from that far away they know exactly where you are. How could you not like turkey hunting?

Default big jake

Got a big jake tonight, thought he was a longbeard, so did he. Strutting for a hen in front of me. I could tell he was a tom just could not tell how big, anyway I've only killed 11 birds and not to proud to get a nice size bird on the ground. 16 pounds, .25 spurs, 5.125 beard. I've been watching 3 longbeards for 2 weeks and might have their number.

Way to go springspur! It's all about calling them up and just enjoying the turkey woods! Some of those jakes can put on quite the show....good luck on those longbeards. Can't wait to see your next one!

Default thanks EFH

I do take a lot of pleasure out of just being out there, getting some sanity and serenity. It really reinforces to me the fact there is a creator.
