Got it done in CT today. Had a bird light up on the roost in the back of the same field I shot my opening day bird. I set up in the same spot, put my decoy in the same place, and worked this bird for a good 45 minutes. He was pretty hung up at the back of the field out of sight for a good while, but I was playing hard to get and he just couldn't resist. He closed the length of the field inside the wood line off to the right, then he came out into the field and strutted his way straight to me. Very glad he took a turn to my decoy, I eased the gun up and dropped him at about 15 yards. 17 Lbs., 9.75 inch beard. One spur was 1.25 inches but the other was messed up and was just a 7/16 inch bump. Very pleased though, I'm 2 for 4 hunts about a week and a half into the season. Got one more CT tag and one RI tag left to fill.

Congrats! Were your opening day bird's stats posted? I don't think it's listed in the team scoring update.

Haven't posted stats on my opening day bird yet. Or the one in the pic. Or the one sitting in my truck from this morning! Got my RI bird at 5:41 this morning. Tagged out in RI, one more tag to go in CT. 3 birds for 5 hunts, not a bad season so far! I'll get to posting pics and stats a bit later.

JoeA 05-10-2015 12:22 PM

Way to go! It sounds like you've got some really good spots.

bald9eagle 05-10-2015 01:03 PM

Awesome! Good job.

daveco 05-10-2015 08:15 PM

You are on a roll!

turkman1 05-11-2015 03:27 AM

RIStrutSyopper, Way to go. I am so happy we are getting birds down.

ManofTheFall 05-11-2015 11:40 PM

Great job RI.

JoeA 05-12-2015 09:57 AM

Gang, so far on the contest, daveco has registered the biggest bird on our team. A longbeard scoring 64.625 NWTF points.

Keep at it guys. RIstrutstopper has dropped a few, and I know we're all eagerly waiting to see the pix and read the stories.

DTC and BB Outdoors...I have stickers for you guys.

bald9eagle 05-13-2015 09:30 AM

Come on RI! Get those stats and pics posted! We are closing in on the top spot!

daveco 05-13-2015 11:14 AM

Unless my buddy from Kansas contacts me, I'm probably done. I went to Indiana last weekend, and worked the same bird for 3 days, but he outsmarted me.

JW 05-13-2015 01:09 PM

Well guys. My season is coming to an end. It started out promising but one blown opportunity and no bird. I may be able to get out either Friday or Saturday but not sure. Hopefully I can contribute something. Good luck to everyone still going!!!!!

JoeA 05-14-2015 09:50 AM

Way to go! You definitely stopped some strutting :s4:

The Turknado is on the move.

RIStrutStopper 05-15-2015 02:28 PM

Cool clear morning today. Not a single gobble to be heard. Supposed to rain tomorrow morning, and no hunting in CT on Sunday, so maybe I'll get out next week sometime. Still have 2 weeks to go.

JW 05-17-2015 05:51 PM

I have been getting my butt kicked since Wednesday.......wow never have seen it this slow........the birds are there.

Great job everyone. I was just down in Florida for a week. Unfortunately it wasn't for hunting but still had a great time though.

firelt72 05-27-2015 12:38 PM

As of right now we are sitting in a good spot, but there are always a few northern guys still hunting.

DTC 05-28-2015 07:34 AM

Looks like we had several team members knock down some birds. Congrats to all of you that got to hunt! I am leaving Saturday for Manitoba Canada to hunt black bears. This will be my 3rd trip up there and I am amped up.

Good Luck on your bear hunt.

Looks like I found my way onto a winning team this year.
It's been great. See you all back to make another go at it next year.

Phil from Maine 06-08-2015 07:20 AM

While it maybe a little bit early why we wait for the mods to announce the winning team.. I wanted to stop by and say Congratulations guys on a job well done!!!

firelt72 06-08-2015 09:30 AM

Thanks Phil. Sorry you had a tough Maine Season. I snuck over and read your post. You are a very good hunter and from what I see an even better guy!

JoeA 06-08-2015 09:43 AM

I think we won. Great job guys! Hey RIStrutstopper! Go easy on them birds. You gotta leave some to grow big for next spring!

RIStrutStopper 06-08-2015 01:22 PM

Great job guys! Looks like we'll get to do Turknado Part 2 next year! Joe A, seems the birds were a little light here for two year olds. Maybe it was the tough winter? Hopefully whatever's left will get bigger for next year. It was good to meet you and your wife, thanks for the hospitality. Not sure yet, but its looking like another Oahu trip may be coming up later this summer. This time there won't be any snow on the ground at home, but I'll take a HI trip any day!

jepcho 06-08-2015 06:21 PM

Well Looks like you guys won this year. As a member of last year's champs I just wanted to say Congrats! It's fitting that the team with the coolest name I think I've ever seen on this contest would win and be around another year. So, even though I might be slightly jealous ;) congratulations. You guys had a great season.

firelt72 06-09-2015 04:09 AM

How about Turknado 2- All Roped Out....

JoeA 06-09-2015 09:42 AM

Team Turknado - Ropes N Dopes!

ManofTheFall 06-09-2015 02:20 PM

Great job guys!!!!! I think this is the first time that I've been on a team I did not contribute with a kill, (deer or turkey) but you all got the job done. Congrats to all Team Turknado members and hopefully we will be here again next year. Now, go and kill a big one in the up and coming deer season!!!!!
