Set up on the dairy farm for the last hunt of the season. Hiked a pop up all the way too the back of the property where I saw a hen last evening. No gobbles yet.

Hearing four different gobblers.
Two of the gobblers are cutting each other off. One of them is in the bottom over the right decoys head.

He hung up across the fence in the woods on the neighboring property about 80-100 yards but I felt he would be coming out into the field. He was constantly gobbling and at 7:50 BOOOM. Someone on the neighboring property shot him. I bet you they got up at 7 and heard him gobbling back on their property and put the sneak on him because he was gobbling in the same place for a long time and they would have shot him earlier if they were there at sunrise. Packed my tent and chair and hiked the 1/2 mile back out.

I guess that's it for me this year. Have to leave town in the AM tomorrow. Sorry I blanked again guys but I heard a ton of gobbling this year, just couldn't get them to leave the ladies.

Bummer man. I was pulling for you! It was cool following along with your hunt this morning, wished it wouldn't have ended the way it did for you. Sounds like you had fun anyway and that's what it is all about! No need to be sorry we have all been there. At least you got to hunt!
