Team 4- Locked & Knocked

I took down this public land doe yesterday evening. She only went 30 yards. Got her with the 2 blade Rage chisel tip. Yes she is only a yearling but there are several benefits to shooting a yearling. They gut easier, they usually die quicker, they drag easier, and they have the best tasting meat. I was also deceived by her size. She walked right in from behind me and was at the base of my ladder as she walked by. She looked pretty long and so when she got about 15 yards out I put the smack down on her. I really believed she was at least 1 1/2 old or more.

Congrats. I am trying to decide if i want to make the 6 hour drive to the lease this weekend. I have an 8 point cull coming in every morning but I had been leaving him for one of my daughters. She was unable to get a shot on him on the last trip. Getting an arrow in him will not be that hard but I can't decide if I am going or not. The weather looks like it is going to suck and I hate to be wet and cold....LOL....guess I am getting old.

I will be hitting the stand New Year's morning and then Saturday evening I will be taking my grandson out again to try and get his first. He missed one so far with the crossbow and missed one with the shotgun as well. Hopefully the 3rd time will be a charm.

Saturday evening I had a 1 1/2 year old fork horn and 2 doe fawns walk past me at 10 yards. That was all I saw. Monday and Tuesday it's suppose to be even colder so maybe some of the older deer will be on their feet before dark. I will be going out both evenings. I'm still after a hit list buck but haven't seen any shooter bucks since mid November.
