I'll get things started for Team 3, b0huntr147 checking in!

Checking in as well, and as of today only 12 days til season opener!

opening day was yesterday here in NE but due to rest malfunctions I was on the bench. Not sure if I'll make it out anytime in the near future for whitetail but in 2 weeks I do have a mule deer/elk hunt in Idaho.

I'm here. I have a few shooters on my place and have my eye on one in particular. We'll see how it goes. I normally harvest on October 30th, but last year it was November 15th.

AF_Hunter, what part of Iowa do hunt/live? I have a lot of family in Iowa

If this is the deer that I think he is he will finish out with short tines but I kind like him.

Unsure of this deer. He is wide but does not have much else. We are a low fence but normally I know most of our local bucks. Not sure where this one come from.

Those are some nice bucks! My trail cams here in NE don't have anything as big as that, my biggest was probably a 125" that I haven't seen since the end of June.

Oh and the date is messed up on the camera. All of the pictures are from the last 6 weeks or so.

Checking in 12 days until season plus found out today I got drawn for 15 day conservation area hunt.

I live in central Iowa, north of Des Moines and hunt south central Iowa south of Knoxville.

Which hunt did you get? I put in for Whetstone but didn't get drawn.

I'll be pulling cards this weekend to see what there is to see.

Well, at least half the team checked in anyway.

I was just looking at that, that got 10 more days so hopefully we'll have some more check in.

What are you're guys' biggest bow deer? Mine was 147" shot at 35 yds, unfortunately I can no longer hunt this property.

My largest was 144 I shot at 3 yards but I have on camera what a couple people are telling me is a 170. We shall see once late October gets here. The 144 is my avatar.

I don't remember exactly but just under 140. The smallest buck that I have ever shoot was a "mistake" . He had the exact same antler configuration as a older deer. It was getting pretty dark and I messed up. He was an 8 point that scored 112. Funny thing is I was on the winning team that year and he was one of the bigger bucks. Of the 10 members we killed 8 bucks. That was back before does were allowed. I am fairly particular with my bucks but would expect one between 120 and 140. We hunt a low fence Texas hill country lease and the deer are not exactly monsters...LOL.

It's 54 degrees this morning here and the acorns are everywhere. Persimmon trees are beginning to drop as well. Going to be a tough call on where to sit next Monday for Opening Day!

Otter Slough October 15th through November 9th. Not usually known for great big bruisers, but does hold lots of quality deer. Plus that just added two deer to my quota this year.

Well that's 3 votes, I've got no problem with being captain if nobody else does.

Those are some nice pics AFHunter, i'm hoping to get out one night this week for my first sit of the year. I spent this week dove and teal with the girlfriend and her dad. My shooting was off a little with shotgun so hopefully i'll do better with the bow!

Great to be part of the team. Sure are some nice bucks posted on here. Best of luck to you guys! I have a few nice bucks on camera that I am keeping a distant eye on! Sorry I won't post due to some guys I know like to keep tabs on things that I may let "slip" out on the forum!

Looks like I'm finally going to make it out tomorrow night for my first sit of year. I haven't had anything real big on camera but I haven't checked them in a few weeks also. We'll see how it goes and whats on the camera too!

good luck! Now as team captain you have to contact the team members who have not checked in and head the team name committee. Personally, I don't care what the team name is, but would appreciate a full team.

I'm with AF hunter names not that important if we can just get a full team to score some points.

First sit was pretty uneventful, didn't see any deer. Checked my camera at that stand and looks like most of the movement is in the mornings so I'm gonna have to start hunting then. Nothing that's really a shooter on camera except a 9 point that may go 120, he's smaller than what I would like to shoot but he looks like a mature deer

Almost time for our opener - I'll be heading out Sunday and on stand Monday am. Have 2 days off to start off the season. Hopefully I can catch up with the bachelor group that was running a funnel where I have one of my ladder stands. Just looking forward to being back in the woods.

Just a heads up for everybody, I'll be leaving a week from today for a 10 day trip in Idaho so I'm not sure if I'll be able to log on during that time period but hopefully I'll come back with a mule deer in tow for the scoreboard and an elk for bragging!

My season will start on the 27th so I still have a couple of weeks of sitting on the sidelines. As far as a name I don't care.
