Got the kid I'm mentoring on an OLD buck tonight. I no longer got the buddy stand set for him and he gets settled and says Buck. As soon as I saw it I know he would be happier with it than me. It was a 130 class 9pt with a broken G3 so I said when you get the shot take it.. We were experiencing 25+mph winds at the time so he waited and waited as the buck postured and scraped the ground at the decoy. The wind settled and all I saw was the arrow hit the deer.. Looked like he got shoulder but had good penetration so we stayed in the stand and what do you know a GIANT 170" ten point starts heading out way. But he turned and stayed out of range until he left. Going out in the morning for a hunt we had pretty good blood on his buck but are backing out until tomorrow morning at 10

Nice going everyone! I've been hunting a lot lately but only seeing does and dinks. I leave Tuesday for a 4 day hunt but that's primarily a black powder hunt but I'll take my bow just in case. Found out that there is some major logging activity on the property going on currently. It's going to be interesting figuring out all the new deer areas while so much activity is going on. A lot of my best spots are now logged or currently being logged.

We're still in this chase guys. We are only 60" behind the leader and we have two deer still not entered.

i wish my buck would get us 60 but i don't think so. i'll try to get him scored tonight, tomorrow for sure. it would be neat to see us in 1st, even if it's short term.
