Good job, markjenna. Action beginning to heat up here too, my favorite part of the season. My showoff son got another buck today, about a 168 mule deer. Huge thing.

Well folks I shot a nice wide 10pt saturday morning but the shot was a bit forward to much and I lost him. Not happy here in Wisconsin but I will be back out starting this afternoon. Rut has really kicked in so I have high expectations right now.

I fear I have some very bad news - I shot a buck, but look what I shot it with. Yes, I succumbed to temptation and headed out with my rifle this morning. So I'm letting the team down with no hope for any points as this ends my season. Sorry, guys.

But it was a blast. Bucks are running all over in the daytime now and I caught this guy tending a doe at first light. The pair was about half a mile away when I spotted them and I used sparse cover to close to within half of that. Then I crawled 2 or 300 yards and could finally get no closer. The whole stalk took over half an hour. After field dressing him, I had to drive my car back to town and get my son to come out with his truck. By then it was 9:00 and there was another nearly identical buck with a doe standing there watching us. The rut is such an interesting time.

Nice one Jack!

I'm still hopeful, but I've drawn blanks or dinks my last many outings...

I'm still at it, I still have a couple of bucks running around that make the grade.
