Killed a doe with the smokepole last week. My next several weekends are jacked up so I'll be doing my best to get on one before or after work. Good luck to those hunting

Well I got an arrow in a decent buck this evening. It was only 8 yards (I was about 18 feet up a tree) and quartering toward me. The shot looked good, but when I got down the blood trail was week. initially there was some gut content then just spots of blood. from the impact spot and the angle I still think the shot was ok but just clipped the stomach on the way out (it was a pass through). Anyway I didn't track it far since the blood was not great and it was pretty much dark. It is supposed to be below freezing here tonight (not the norm so I got lucky there) so I backed out and I am going to go look for him first thing tomorrow. Hopefully I will have some picks. Not going to sleep well tonight.

Default We are on the board

I found the buck I hit last night. He is a non-typical 14. Not huge but not bad either. I'll get the score and pick up soon.

One more close up of the rack, makes him look bigger. Not supper wide but lots of character, I am very happy with him. He goes 132.25. Not too bad for a public land deer. Now I will be chasing does. We can get a second buck if we shoot 2 does first, so I have some work to do if I want to chase another one in the rut. If I am only chasing does the rest of the way I still will be smiling. Good luck everyone!
