The season opens on Sunday here. Hopefully the cold front will help with the deer activity.
Season opens on Saturday for me, but I don't think I will be able to get out between work and other stuff. Hopefully the next weekend I will be able to make it out. It seems like there is some good deer activity in my area, and am hoping for the best. Good luck to all of you.

Here in Pa our season opens next Sat, for antlerless only. Then our regular season (any deer) opens Oct 5. I just hope these cooler temps will stick around. I HATE walking to my stand sites getting sweaty before the hunt! I'm pumped!! :happy0001:
Oct 5th for us as well I took two weeks off first time ever for this I am pumped :) usually it is just night hunts after work!
Treebeard, make sure you save some time for the rut!
No worries I have plenty of time left but I need a break and I got the itch! ;)
Just got home from Holla Bend scouting trip. Watched about 30 does go into a bedding area for about three weeks in a row now. They have had five bucks in tow till this morning. So I went looking for them. I found them an jumped them off of beds. Four of them was decent an one good one around 140 or so.
Our season in Missouri starts tomorrow. I will not be able to go out for a few days because of work. I have vacation the first week of October and the first week of November, which I will hunt hard with the rut. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. It is not like the hunting in Iowa was, but hopefully it will bringsome decent deer into the picture for the team.

Ok. I signed in on my phone so no more confusion. We got a pic of a double main beam buck today. My husband says he will gross mid 160's. And he's been a regular on the trail camera

Do we have anyone who is skilled enough to make our team's avatar? Maybe a big buck on a deer cart? That might go with "Dead on Arrival", again, just a thought.
On a hunting note, I checked my new Cudde Attack and got good quality pics from it. Only a few doe and a small 6pt, which still had velvet, but it's still early. I usually only check my cams every 2 weeks, but since it's a new cam I wanted to make sure everything was working well after 1 week. I'll post some pics when I get a decent buck on it. |
Opening started yesterday, unfortunately on Thursday I was cutting firewood and rolled a log, finger got caught and took my release finger to the bone on one side and blew the other side out, tried adjusting release but just didn't feel right with the secondary finger and I don't want to put a poor shot out there. Figure by next weekend it will be good. Good luck to all. Nothing really being caught on cam to this point, odd for here, usually I begin putting a hit list together by now so I am not sure whats going on. Maybe when the corn comes down it will help as well. I am not gifted enough for the avatar but I hope someone is. I look for a already made photo but couldn't come up with much. Will sign in again soon.

I can not do an avatar. Do not have a way to one.
I am thinking about taking vacation on the 31st an the 1st. |
I have not had the chance to go out yet. It is feeling more and more like Fall may be coming. A lot of my customers had little to no luck over the weekend. I had a fellow worker shoot a doe and saw a shooter, but did not have a shot. Hopefully I can get out once we get to October.

Anybody heard from 3stone?
No, and the deadline was last Saturday. Will an alternate be added?

It is kind of amazing when they had TOO MANY sign-ups a few years ago, and I don't believe another hunting site is the entire reason for this phenomenon. :confused0024:
I submitted a request earlier this week for an alternate since we have not heard from 3stone yet. I will be getting out this weekend to see what i can find. Weather is going to be cooler, I am looking forward to it. Good luck and Good Hunting everyone!
I am on call this weekend. Be going down Friday afternoon. Seasons starts the 28th.
I saw one doe this morning, but she didn't come close enough for a shot. It was a beautiful morning to be out though. I will try again tomorrow morning.

I was out Sat evening and didn't see a single deer. I did see a nice looking fox though. It was too windy for good hunting at this particular spot.
I checked several white oaks today to see which ones might be dropping acorns this year. White oaks in my area only drop every other year, and sometimes every 3rd year for really big/mature white oaks. I found 2 that are starting to drop and noticed quite a few were more yellow than brown like they should be. Maybe it's a result of the very wet Spring/early Summer we had here in SE Pa? |
BB Outdoors is our newest team member, we are just waiting for him to check in and our team will be full.
I officially have a planned hunting weekend. It's at the end of October. I might get out once or twice before then, but it would only be on local public land. I am looking forward to getting out in the woods soon.
I was out Monday evening and saw 4 deer, 3 doe and a spike. None in bow range, but it's still nice seeing the first deer of the season. I can't wait for the rut!
Is everyone sleeping around here? :confused0024:
Friday evening I had 2 yearlings at 18yrds feeding on beech nuts. I passed. I'm not seeing a ton of activity yet. I think there's food (acorns/beech nuts) all around the woods, so the deer are more spread out. Anyway, our regular (any deer) archery season starts next Sat. |
My season started the yesterday the 28th, no luck just to warm. Lows in the 70's highs in the upper 80's.

So far this is the biggest buck I've gotten a pic of. That flash is a bit much! Legal, but not at all a shooter.
I snipped my way through some seriously thick wild rose and found a great stand set for the rut. Can't wait! |
i am heading to the stands this Thursday through Sunday. I hope to get at least a doe on the ground. The cooler weather will be nicer to hunt in.
That small 7pt that I posted a pic of was 10yrds from my stand yesterday evening. He was with his little spike buddy. It figures, I'm hunting doe (until Sat!) and only see buck.
Saturday for me lads I have got a antler/antlerless bow tag :)
I saw 7 does and fawns last night, none of them within range. They all came out 20 minutes before dark. The farmer was taking the corn out until 6 last night. It should all be gone by the time I get back there this evening. Hopefully I can shoot a doe tonight. Good luck and good shooting.
Haven't even gotten my Bow out of the case yet :(
I saw 2 does tonight, but they came in 5 minutes after shooting light. Hopefully the cold front this weekend will get them more active. Good luck and good shooting.
Friday evening I had a doe come in so quietly that I didn't even see/hear her until she was 15yrds from my stand. I had a good shot initially, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't a yearling, and by the time I realized it was an adult she had gone behind me, leaving no shot. :s14:
But, the good news is our regular archery season opens today (I'm not hunting because of the 82F heat) and it's supposed to get cooler around here next week after the rain. I don't get a lot of early season activity in my area anyway. Bring on the rut! :barmy: |
I hate when patterns change I go to all this work setting stands, cameras and bait/mineral licks then the season opens and they go away. Stay put or move? dang it!!!!!!
The weather has been giving me a fit. Either hot or it is raining. I hunted this morning it was 51 degrees. Did not see anything.
Shot 3 nice Doe yesterday, not a single deer with antlers out of the 16 I saw.
Congratulations Tribal!! I saw 5 does and 3 bucks last night. None of them were within range, all over 100 yards away. 2 of the bucks did some light sparring. One was a forky and the other appeared to be a decent 8. It was getting so dark I couldn't get a good look at his rack. I will try again on Wednesday and see what happens!! Good luck and good shooting!!
