Default Gobbler Down !

Heres my entry.Got him thursday morning after sitting for 3 hours listening to distant gobbles.I wasn't calling at all, just set up by an area I knew they were at almost every day and sure enough at 8:30 I hear a gobble close and he walks into the woods 35 yards from me.Not really my idea of hunting but with having an early spring the birds were pretty much done breeding and not very easy to call in. I'll take what I can get.
12 gauge Remington 11-87SP using custom NITRO 4x5x7 3 inch turkey loads

I havent tallied the score yet..........

Eastern

No luck for me today. I am now 2 for 4. I heard a few gobble this morning, but there was another hunter in the area and I think he kept getting between me and the birds. Glad some other people are getting some. Congrats, turkey harvester. Looking forward to seeing pics of your monster. That's gonna help our scores out quite a bit.

Well, Kansas didn't go well for me, but in some ways a great trip.
I blew my chance on 2 long shots by not having my Turkey choke in my gun vs the modified that was screwed in. Have no idea how that happened, but a total idiot move. Had hunts busted by Dogs, other hunters, Coyotes, and Cows....Jeez! Tripped over barbwire in heavy grass, and wrenched a knee which took me out one day, and it still isn't back to normal.
Positive is my wife shot her first Turkey, a Jake on a 15 yard shot with her 20 gauge. After being ticked off on Public land, my buddy introduced me to a large land owner, who gave me permission to hunt all of his land. Hopefully, this will be a permanent deal. I wasted a lot of time trying to figure where to set up on it, but know a lot more now than before. Many other cool things happened, which would take me a while to cover it all. I'm still going to be out there working Iowa, and maybe like last year a late Kansas run, if I fail in Iowa. Sorry guys.

Here is my missouri gobbler. Weighed 23 lbs. 15 oz, had a 10 1/2 and a 5 1/2 inch beards, and both spurs were 1 3/16". This bird gobbled his fool head off, then shut up when he hit the ground. After my first call I had a hen come running to me. The crazy bird strutted and gobbled for 10-15 minutes about 20 yards in front of me. I haven't ever heard a hen gobble, seen them strut, she wouldn't leave. I watched the gobbler strut all the way in to her. I held my gun for an 1 hr and 15min. before I could make it happen. I had a severe case of the weenie arm by then, and she is still 20 yards from me. Couldn't stand it no longer I rose my gun alittle, she looked, he looked and he took a dirt nap.

23.9375 + 11.875 + 11.875 + 32 = 79.6875 eastern. Shotgun
