Checked my trail camera today, and I got several pics of a nice three or four year old tom on it. This weekend it our youth season and the next weekend is the opener, so maybee he will still be around. I only got pics of another jake. I hope that he is not the only mature turkey around

I am a little bummed out, I just found out that the private land I have permission to hu nt isnt so private. There will be at least another guy and maybee more hunting out there. There is only about 80 acres. Could get crowded pretty quick

Get in very early, before they do.
They will drive the good Toms to you.
Good Luck.

Went out there early this morning and accidently got a little to close to the area they have been roosting. He started gobbling a little after first light, and a little while later I heard some alarm putts, and then I heard some fast moving footsteps in the leaves. I think that it was a coyote or something. I didnt hear him again until about thirty minutes later and he was still on the roost. A little while after that he flew down, and headed in the same direction that he has every time I have been out there. One more week to go

Well I went out tonight to see if I could see any turkeys. I found 5 mature tom's with 15 hens. They come in this grain field early evening and feed. This where I hunt every year and was glad to see them there again. The tom's where fanned out and strutting around and would feed and chase one another around. I will set up Sat. that is when the season starts. I hit the call a few times but they didn't respond but the hens where all heads. I will give it a try Sat.
