Opening was cold & windy, birds weren't making much noise. Didn't see much all day except a 1 or 2 hens. Finally about 2 o'clock we spotted 2 toms they started coming in not making a sound the whole way. We thought we were going to get a double, well my buddy got his (signman53) but me I forgot to take my safety off. I wasn't real happy. The next day comes, seen a few hens lots of deer & then GOD blessed me again. About 11 o'clock a lone tom was coming in silent, this time I didn't blow it, I got my bird. beard -8 1/4", LS-7/8", RS-7/8", weight-25 lbs. 6 oz. pictures forth coming.

wow... the turkeys seemed to have totally disappeared from the area I hunt. A friend told me he has seen a large group that appears to be the same ones about a mile away from my woods. Do they have that far of a range? Just wondering. There is zero activity on the little 30 acres I hunt. I have tried to find them at night, etc. Don't see them in the fields either. I sure hope it isn't going to be a bust. Hopefully by the time the weather gets better they will show back up. We've had cold temps, high winds and rain for the last couple of weeks.....

Well guys, my season has been a total flop. Had to pull a double at work this weekend leaving me with only pre and post church hunts on Sunday. Neither of which resulted in a bird. Never in my turkey hunting career have I had my butt kicked like I have this year. With work being like it has this year I really don't see me getting off work in time to get home and on a bird. Our season ends this weekend, but we are leaving for Florida on vacation Saturday morning. It looks like my season has ended with me holding both tags. This has not happened to me since I killed my first bird. I have eaten one tag, but not both. Sorry for the let down guys. I hope that all those still hunting can connect on birds. Good luck to all of you!

I got my gobbler 17 lbs. 6 inch beard.
It's the smallest Merriam gobbler I ever shot but I am happy to have him as my hunting time ended up very limited.
