2012 HNI Spring Turkey Contest Champions Team 4 Beard Bandits
#182

Well I like other team members want to add to the teams total but will have to wait for our opener on the 25th. here in Indiana. I had hoped to hunt Kentucky with my friend Matt but the land owners have already alotted the spots given for guest on an amazing Turkey honey hole right across the river from me. The 190.00 buck fee to hunt Kentucky is hard for me to lay down with no place to hunt close by or time to scout and have a shot at a bird. I have all my time set for our season in 10 days,we get 19 days to hunt and I hope to hunt at least 14 times or more during that period. I don't know what to expect weather wise or what this odd spring will continue to throw at us. I think the season here will require agressive tactics and few blunders to get a good one. But thats why I love the challenge of hunting period,I hope I'm wrong and drop a stud in the first few days of the season like all of us do. Good Hunting Team and keep em dropin before your feet until we get to join the effort soon.

I had a great trip to Missouri.
I was in the blind early opening morning of the Missouri opener. Really uneventful to be honest. Saw 1 hen that morning and she was like a road runner running across the field I was set up in. I had 1 gobbler answer me one time as well. So I went in for breakfast and discussed strategy.
So I went to a place where there has been a few gobbles were heard earlier in that morning. Really it was uneventful. As it was getting close for me to get out of the blind. I did a series of yelps and clucks and told myself give it 15 more minutes and we will pack up and go. The time was 12:15 so I would leave at 12:30. At 12:20 I caught movement off to my left and a strutting tom was coming into the field at 15 yards. He made a B-line to my B-Mobile and hen decoy. He never made it to the decoys. He weighed 20lbs, 5/8 in spurs and 10in beard. In the picture is the yard bird where I hunt
Your score is 20 + 6.25 + 6.25 + 20 = 52.5
