Well, I am still swinging at curveballs and coming up empty. Hunted Monday-Wednesday at Oakmulgee and didn't have any luck. First bird we set up on Monday morn got bumped by another hunter. Set up on another later that morn but couldn't get him away form the ladies.
Roosted one Monday evening but he got henned up real quick Tuesday morn. Couldn't do a thing with him. Tried him again that evening but he had decided to roost elsewhere.
Wednesday started out with a blast. We set up on 2 of the 8-9 birds we were hearing. Had 'em on the ropes when another hunter came up from the bottom to bump 'em. I left them and went to a lonely bird that had been gobbling all morning. I messed him up trying to get out of a thick bottom I had to cross to get to him.
Them's the breaks when you hunt public land.

Still waiting for Kentucky & Indiana to begin, had a good day scouting yesterday found 2 Toms hammering in a good spot. One at 10:30 on a field edge and another at 1:30 or 2:00 on a fire road letting his pressence be known. Saw 2 Eagles,4 Deer, a few hens, dozens of turtles mating and yotes in the evening raising a fuss. If these 2 move on then the place is so plush I would think others will move into it if pressured during the season. Hang in there Public land hunters like Bald9Eagle,sooner or later it will come together.Welcome DeerTracts and good hunting DTC Jr.
